The Northern Inland Cricket representative season is set to start this Sunday.

Glen Innes will once again take the field in the Eastern Conference MA Connolly Cup competition with their first match against Peel Valley Bush Cricket at Lynches Oval.

The team looks fairly strong, we lost a couple yesterday and today but it is still a fairly strong side.

Association secretary Greg Wilkins said the team is in with a good chance.

“The team looks fairly strong, we lost a couple yesterday and today but it is still a fairly strong side,” he said on Wednesday.

“We have and we are bringing some more young players through now because there is no junior cricket.

“We have lowered our age to 13 instead of 14 to try and keep them here.”

The team is: Ritesh Shekhawat, Greg Wilkins, Tom Chard, Joel Jackson, Nick Levy, Perry Stapleton, Darren Pithers, Matthew Campion, Luke Hodgson, Jake Baker and Brandon Levy.

The other match in the Eastern Conference will see Armidale host Walcha.

In club cricket, commitment from players is an ongoing struggle for the Glen Innes District Cricket competition as the third round saw another forfeit.

For the second time this season, Emmaville forfeited prior to their scheduled fixture against the NEC Colts.

The other match saw the Services Club Cavaliers take on Kings Gym.

The Caveliers stepped up to bat first with the Kings bowlers far too good, ripping through the side for 51.

It took Kings less than five overs to chase down the Cavaliers’ total to claim the win.

Brendan Jillett and Joel Jackson opened the batting with Jillett finishing on 14 not out, including two fours while Jackson belted 25 runs off 10 balls, including three sixes. Nathan Matthews added 13 not out to their tally.

The round four fixtures are scheduled to be Kings Gym playing Emmaville at King George Oval and the Cavaliers taking on the Colts.
