The community choir was formed at the start of the year and has around two dozen active members. Organiser Christine Davis said this will be the first time the group has put on a formal concert on stage under lights, and there may be a few nerves on the night.
The concert will feature a selection of the choral numbers the group has learned under the baton of guest conductor Cathy Welsford at workshops throughout the year. Some will have a piano accompaniment, others will feature accompaniment by ukulele which group members have also been learning.
Cool Choir is supported by the Sing Your Age project, part of the NSW Ageing Strategy 2016-2020 through the NSW Department of Family & Community Services.
Once the singers have tackled and overcome their nerves, the more-difficult three-part harmonies and the glare of the stage lights, they can then let down their hair with the rest of the partygoers and bop along to vintage 50’s and 60’s band Wayne and the Wanderers for the rest of the evening.
Entry is free thanks to some generous donations, not least of all from the Hall Trust committee which is providing supper. (BYO drinks).
Bookings are essential for catering purposes. Call 0412 232 146 or email riverbend2371@gmail.com, and see you there.
