COME AND SAY HELLO: Mellissa Grennan and Kasey Elliott are inviting the community to come down to the park on Thursday at 11am for a barbecue and to meet the Examiner team.

Come along and meet the Glen Innes Examiner team for a barbecue at Anzac Park this Thursday.

Kasey Elliott, who manages classified advertising for this newspaper, invited people to the free event.

"We're having it to let the community know that we're still here even though the office has closed," Kasey said.

"The paper still runs as normal. But the way to contact us isn't to come to our door - it's to make a call, send an email."

So this Thursday is another way you can catch up with the crew from the Examiner.

To coincide with the community barbecue, the Examiner is offering 10 tickets which are good for $20 off classified advertising.

"We are still available and we are flexible. We work in cyberspace rather than an office."

The Examiner has a new journalist, Andrew Messenger as well as Kasey and advertising consultant Mellissa Grennan. Andrew is the newest member of the team, having started work in Glen Innes last week after relocating from Tasmania.

The barbecue will start at 11am on Thursday and it's to be held at the barbecue area across from AMH Medical.
