After the first two rounds against Peel Valley Bush Cricket and Walcha, the Glen Innes team turned in a dominant performance against Armidale on Sunday.

Perry Stapleton starred with a century while Nick Levy landed five wickets to round out the competition’s regular rounds. 

Stapleton smacked 109 in his side’s run chase against Armidale. 

The visitors won the toss and opted to bat first.

At the top of the order, Steve Yeomans set to work and made 43 for his side while Ryan Simpson was the next highest scorer for his team with 38 . 

Glen didn’t post their first wicket until Armidale had 63 runs on the board with Levy making the breakthrough. 

Levy then finished off the remainder of Armidale’s top five and rounded out his five-fa before Stapleton chimed in with a wicket. 

Matt Campion managed two wickets and Jake Baker added another as as the rest of Armidale’s batting line-up were dismissed for relatively cheaply in their innings of 10-161.

Ritesh Shakhawat and Matt Campion opened the batting for Glen Innes but were dismissed with a collective total of eight. 

Up stepped Tom Chard and Stapleton. 

Stapleton smashed 13 fours and six sixes in his 109-run stand while Chard finished with 15 not out. 

Glen Innes chased down the required runs in 15 overs with seven wickets in hand to seal the win and finish on top of the table. 

Levy’s five-fa brought up his Connolly Cup tally to 11. 

Their first semi-final will be a home clash against Narrabri, who finished second in the Western Conference, on February 10. Tamworth Blue will host Walcha in the other semi-final.
