Armidale region received of some welcome local rain interspersed with some small hail on Saturday evening, which seemed to originate from an east south-easterly change that dropped some welcome falls throughout the district.

Although falls were scattered and localised, there were some reports posted on social media with readings as high as 40mm. And those figures were supported by observations by the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM), which recorded 37mm of rain at Ben Lomond with its gauge at Beulah and 32mm was measured at the Guyra Hospital to 9am on Sunday morning.

Possibly a good indication of how scattered the rain was can be seen in the figures recorded for Armidale where the Tree Group Nursery gauge caught 26.9mm, the Airport gauge collected 14.6mm and Dumaresq Dam showed a reading of 16mm.
Falls were very localised and lighter to the north and south of Guyra. In the north, Glen Innes received 7.4mm while Tenterfield recorded missed out altogether. To the west Inverell took 2.2mm while Tamworth and Woolbrook to the south came up empty.
