The minister will visit Glen Innes later this month, set for June 7.

Member for Northern Tablelands sat down with minister Hazzard in parliament today. He said he was excited at the news.

"The $80 million redevelopment of Moree District Hospital and $20 million dollar refurbishment of Glen Innes Hospital, promised at the recent election, will definitely proceed - it's locked in," he said.

"Minister Hazzard made it clear that just like Armidale and Inverell, the government would make good on its word and promises to the Moree and Glen Innes communities.

"This is pleasing news and will be backed up by a visit from the Health Minister early next month to Inverell and Glen Innes."

The Moree and Glen Innes hospitals upgrades were announced during the state election campaign earlier in March.

Mr Marshall said the Moree district hospital was one of the busiest health facilities in the Northern Tablelands, with more than 3,800 presentations to the emergency department last year.

He also argued that refurbished facilities would encourage new health practitioners to live in the New England area.

"Our regional communities are struggling to retain health practitioners, so by forging ahead with the new and refurbished hospitals, I'm confident more doctors, specialists and nurses will be enticed to come and stay."

"Through more than 8,000 signatures on petitions the Moree and Glen Innes communities have made it clear how important these projects are and I'll be doing everything I can to ensure they are delivered as quickly as possible."

These projects both come on the back of the $60 million redevelopment of both Armidale and Inverell Hospitals.

Minister Hazzard will visit will visit the electorate on Friday, 7 June to discuss the start of these vital health projects.

"I'm delighted the Minister has agreed to come to our region and talk about the planning process for both developments and inspect the work happening at Inverell Hospital," Mr Marshall said.
