Player-coach Nick Say was hoping the 38-10 loss to Narwan might "give us a kick up the bum we need" to come out firing against Armidale and that's exactly what they did.
The Magpies rocketed out of the blocks to lead 34-nil at half-time in what Say believes was "their most complete half of footy all year."
"We knew we had to change our attitude, which we did, and you could tell in the first 10 minutes when we came out with the right attitude and everything fell into place," he said.
"We have been starting okay, and then there have been a few lapses here and there, but it was a pretty complete 40 yesterday which was good," he said.

"We spoke about it, coming out in the second-half and keeping the momentum going which we did for the first 10 to 15 [minutes].
"We kept it going and then we fell asleep a bit which you sort of do when games are like that."
The Magpies finished with a 58-10 triumph and Say lauded the efforts of the side's senior players.
"We were pretty strong all across the park which was pleasing," he said.
"I was just happy with the older blokes, they really stood up and the younger fellas just followed.
"Blokes like Ducky, Cheersy, Schiffo and Timmy Grob, they led from the front which was nice."
The Magpies' next match will be against the Boars in Moree, with the bye this weekend, followed by a general bye on the June long weekend.
"Not looking forward to this three weeks off," Say said.
"Hopefully we will have a few back then and close to full-strength."
