It is a huge effort for the Celts with the club in its inaugural year in the North West junior AFL competition.
The Glen Innes players were chosen in various North West teams to face sides from Illawarra, North Coast, Central Coast and Hunter Regions at the Northern Carnival on July 9 and 10.
North West teams were made up of players from Tamworth, Gunnedah, Inverell, Armidale, Moree and Glen Innes.
Players were presented their jerseys at a dinner in Coffs the night prior to the Carnival.
In the under-13 team, Diesel Harvey was honoured by being named captain of the side.
Mitchell Davidson, Louisa Beatty and Charlotte McHarg were also in the side.
The under-13 grade was mixed with North West being the only team to field girls in the competition, aside from the youth girls grade.
In the under-15 side, Celts players lined Ashton McConnell, Alex Woods, Campbell Harrison, Lachlan Schafer and Ashten Masterson lined up.
All boys played well.
The Celts sole under-17 player was Braxton Bartlett, who played a solid game and really enjoyed the honour of representing the league.
Glen Innes also provided the first North West female umpire to officiate at representative level.
Montana Harvey took on the duty as well as lining up in the youth girls team alongside Celts players Jessica Wright and Bridgitte Beatty.
The North West youth girls team had some success, winning three of their five matches and coming out third.
Montana has been training as an umpire in a development program being provided by the North West League.
She recently umpired the Auskick half-time AFL match at Metricon Stadium, on the Gold Coast, and umpires the under-14 competition for the League.
Montana was very proud to have kicked the first goal for the youth girls, her first ever competition goal.
Jess and Bridgitte both had a great time and contributed well to their team effort, helping to secure their three wins.
All players enjoyed the carnival experience, learned lots from being there and made plenty of new friends who all share a common interest.
