Lift Off! The Festival of Wind, slated to take place on Sunday September 1, will mark both the start of Spring and the massive white blades of the White Rock Wind Farm.

Arts North West will coordinate the event, to be held at King Edward Park and will be free to enter. They described the event in a media release as "a day of family fun to celebrate Glen Innes Severn community's newest icon."

The Festival will feature stalls, music and community participation with creativity at its heart, they said.

Local artists will run a number of wind-related arts activities including kite making, wind toys, eco wind chimes, paper plane constructions and more, according to Arts North West.

Kids will also have an opportunity to play with and make their own bubbles with the Bubble Lady.

They also plan to collaborate with Glen Innes business the Maker's Shed to show off some of the artisans behind some of the region's finest handmade products, with the high country handmade showcase. Punters will have an opportunity to ask for tips and advice from the region's best.

There will also be live music from 10am to 2pm.

The day will culminate in a performance by carrot player extraordinaire Linsey Pollak at The Chapel Theatre at 3pm.
