Major award winners:
Slade Homegrown Award:
The Sports Council introduced a new award this year, in honour of Noel Slade.
This year, it went to Glen Innes rugby union export, Alana Thomas.
Thomas grew up playing all sports in Glen Innes but rugby union has been where she has really shined.
She has played at the country championships, nationals, the women's rugby world cup for the Wallaroos and for the NSW Waratahs throughout her playing career.
Thomas retired through injury but has since gone on to have a stellar coaching career.
She was named the Rugby Australia's Community Coach of the Year in 2017, has served as a development coach for the Wallaroos and is now the Melbourne Rebels' Super W head coach.
