A Glen Innes school is encouraging dads to get more involved in their son's schooling, holding their second father and son evening last week.

The Glen Innes West Infants School event combined the school's boys and their dads or significant male role models in a fun evening of cooking marshmallows last Wednesday night.
But it was the event's conclusion that was arguably most fun, with participants bombarding West Infants Principal Lynn Starkey with the final product.
The school also laid on a spaghetti bolognese dinner.
Principal Starkey said the evening was more than just an enjoyable pastime.
"Another aspect of these evenings is to involve families in the fathering project to support the development of effective relationships," she said.
The school's next planned event, called 'bikes and burgers' is an opportunity for students to bring in a bicycle for repair and maintenance - with the added inducement of a burger dinner.
Fathers and sons of students enrolled or participating in transition to Glen Innes West Infants School are welcome to attend, said Principal Lynn Starkey.
