Young adults at the Danthonia Bruderhof community west of Glen Innes are combining their talents to give the district a Christmas gift in the form of a free concert to welcome the festive season.

Scheduled for 6:30pm, Friday, December 13 at the Inverell Town Hall, 'Welcome Christmas! A Celebration of Hope' features multicultural music, song, and dance for the whole family to enjoy.
"We're having a lot of fun rehearsing for the concert," Elaine Shirky, one of the youth organisers, said.
"Obviously with the drought and now the fires, it's been a really tough year for everyone in our area. So we're hoping our concert will lift spirits and remind us all of the reason we celebrate Christmas in the first place," Elaine said.
Keith Blough, a choir member, added, "Christmas is all about hope - hope for today, and for the future. That's why we're performing this concert. We trust our enthusiasm and our belief in what we're singing about will inspire and encourage our audience, and make up for any notes we might miss!"
With less than a month before their performance, the Danthonia youth are practicing every spare minute.
"It's been great to work on a wide variety of musical styles and traditional dance," Elaine said. "We hope the energy we're putting into rehearsals will translate into a great night for everyone who can make it to the Town Hall," she said.
Seating for the concert will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and no ticketing or RSVP is required. Refreshments will be served following the concert, which is estimated to run for 1.5 hours. Contact the Danthonia Bruderhof on 6723 2213 with any questions.
