GREAT DAY: Race-goers can expect the usual great day out if they attend the 2020 Deepwater Races.

While the last twelve months have been "the most difficult time in living memory", the 2020 Deepwater Races will go ahead on Saturday January 18.

Deepwater Jockey Club president Doug Stevenson said while the drought and fires had been devastating for so many people in the district, that was the main reason they were determined to hold the annual race meeting.

"We urge people to come along and enjoy a great social day of racing and stay on for Fashions on the Field and the band," said Doug.

"I would like to take his opportunity to thank our loyal sponsors for their continued generous support and congratulate Tricia Stack our secretary/treasurer and our hard working committee for making it all such a wonderful event."

Tricia said despite the tough conditions, they were hoping to attract around 3000 race-goers to what is one of the most highly anticipated and enjoyable race meets in the region.

The six-race program will feature $53,000 in prizemoney and trophies and $13,000 for the Deepwater Cup feature race.

Fashions on the Field will be highlight of the race meeting with numerous categories and $3380 in prizes.

"As usual it will be a great day out for all the family," said Tricia.

"We were blessed to get 20ml of rain on Christmas Day and that has greened up the track but we are really hoping for some more to soften up the track on the day."

Entry will cost $10 for over 18s and it will be free for under 18s. There will be a band playing after the races.

GO AHEAD: Despite the fires and drought in the surrounding areas, the Deepwater Races will go ahead as planned and be a great fun day for all.
