112th annual Guyra Show a success, Richard Post says

Guyra Show Society president Richard Post said he was pleased with the success of the 112th annual Guyra Show - particularly after a difficult year.

"We had good numbers through the gate; all the different sections were well supported; we had a great number of people participating; and the weather held off nicely for our kid's entertainment on the Saturday."

The Guyra Showground was a hive of activity on Friday and Saturday. For two action packed days, people travelled from all over the region to enjoy what was on offer.

There was something for everyone with sideshow rides and games, shearing, plenty to eat, shows to see as well as horse events, cattle and sheep and much, much more.

A similar number of visitors came to 2019, and most of the sections were at last year's level in terms of support and exhibitors.

"That's a pretty remarkable effort, I think, given the pretty tough 12 months leading into it," Mr Post said.

New England MP Barnaby Joyce opened the show, and presented the trophy to the winner of the men's cake competition, Dan McLennan.

Mr Post thanked both Mr Joyce and Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall for their support.

Mr Post was also grateful to the local community: "Not just the volunteers, but the general public who gave up their time to have a good day out at the show, spend a few dollars, and contribute to what it was."

We will list section winners and visitor numbers when available.
