Sarah Byrne was part of the winning Inverell Highlanders team who managed to get over the line in an extra-time thriller.
The Glen Innes Elks took to the field as well for the two days but didn't have too much success on the scoreboard.
"Very poorly, in fact," the Elks' 2020 coach Tom Benton said.
"We won one game but that was because they forfeited."
Donning Magpies jerseys with a host of teenagers trying the sport, winning wasn't the aim of the Elks' entry.
"We were going for a bit of pre-season trial stuff, a bit of fitness and give a few blokes that haven't played rugby before a bit of a go," Benton said.
"Trying to get them to have a bit of a run around."
The Elks only began their pre-season last Wednesday with a barbecue at Rugby Park.
They are still hoping for more numbers to turn up to the 6.30pm training sessions every Wednesday before the New England Rugby Union season begins.
The Elks were also hoping to re-start the women's sevens but there were no potential players in attendance at last Wednesday's gathering.
