The pair were part of the Greater Northern Tigers team who scored a 34-4 victory in their round one match against Northern Rivers Titans in Lismore on Saturday.

After missing out on the finals last year with one big loss and a tight win, Tunamena said the huge victory on Saturday was exactly how the Tigers wanted to start this year's campaign.

"Having missed out by 10 points last year just on for and against, we were happy to to get up like that," she said.

Tunamena said they were dominant against the Titans from the get-go.

"I think last year we only beat them by a try, so to beat them like that was unbelievable," she said.

"Everything flowed from the kick-off.

"We wanted to focus on starting well because coming from last year, we weren't starting as well as we could have so we made a really big emphasis on that during the warm up; just switching on early on and it worked really well.

"Plenty of smiles and high fives going into the sheds."

The try the Tigers conceded came after they led 18-nil.

A lapse in concentration, combined with a handful of errors, led to the Titans crossing.

"We switched off for about 10 minutes in the middle of the game and that is when we conceded that try," Tunamena said.

"It was simple, they just drew and passed.

"Just little things like that. We have got to stay switched on for the full 50 minutes. If it was a closer game, we can't afford to be doing stuff like that."

But that was the last time they looked like scoring with the Tigers switching back on to run away with the victory.

Last week Clarke said the team were gelling well and it was reflected in how they played.

"I was ecstatic with how our team went," she said.

"We really wanted the win and we worked hard together to get it.

"I am looking forward to our next game against the GSR West Tigers in Aberdeen this Saturday."

The Championships continue this Saturday with the Tigers heading to Aberdeen to play Greater Southern.

Both Clarke and Tunamena have retained their spots in the starting side.

Tunamena doesn't know what to expect but is sure of one thing - the Tigers can still get better.

"I don't think we have completely shown what we can do just yet," she said.

"I watched the game [between Greater Southern and Western] but there was a focus on what they are doing well but not what they are doing well.

"They look fairly solid, they move the ball well but you never know, it is just who turns up on the day."
