The Tigers team, featuring Glen's Amelia Tunamena and Lauren Clarke, led 6-nil at half-time.
GSR clawed back into the match to take the lead in the second-half but a try to Uralla's Amy Barraclough sealed the win for the Greater Northern women.
Tunamena said it they "made it very hard" after a dominant 34-4 round one win over the Northern Rivers Titans.
"Too many errors with our own attacking, we defended well, especially our goal-line defence," she said.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves.
"As much as we spoke about being patient and let it flow, we were pushing to beat them by 34 to a try again and it was a different side."
Tunamena said it was a physical encounter with players from both sides sin binned and numerous head high tackles.
"I got players' player on the weekend," she said.
"I don't know if they enjoyed me getting bashed or a I had half a decent game."
She also credited Clarke for having a good game in the second row.
Based on points differential, the win puts the Greater Northern Tigers on top of the women's Country Championships table and books them in for a semi-finals berth.
The make-up of the finals is yet to be determined with one round two match still to be played but the two wins guarantees the Tigers a place.
After missing out last year, Tunamena said the group is looking forward to it.
"I am just very excited, gone a step forward from what we were last year," she said.
"The atmosphere within the team is second to none really. It is really, really good.
"I think that has helped, just all the girls can get around each other.
"It is a great group of girls."
