Selim Sensoy remains on the run after his jail break from Glen Innes Correctional Centre, almost two weeks ago.

The manhunt to catch the 44-year-old is continuing and took a different track on Wednesday when officers released new details of the search.

Police suspect he could have stolen a John Deere 6520 tractor from a property off the Gwydir Highway, the night after he escaped from prison.

Specialist police including a tracking dog, PolAir - the police helicopter, and other resources from the force have been deployed as part of the large-scale search.

Police made a fresh appeal to find Sensoy again on Wednesday, and released a new photo of him, along with an image of a tractor similar to the one that was stolen. It was bearing 3400T registration plates at the time.

The 44-year-old inmate disappeared without a trace on the morning of May 23. Police confirmed he was last seen at 10am, but the alarm wasn't raised until midday by Corrective Services officials.

Police were then called in and a large-scale manhunt mounted for the prisoner.

The police helicopter, dog squad and other specialist police have been scouring parts of the New England, including out to Moree and east to the coast.

Police are trying to track the whereabouts of the inmate - who has ties to Southern Queensland, the Mid North Coast and Sydney - and have appealed specifically for locals in the surrounding areas of Grafton, Tenterfield, Glen Innes and Guyra to keep their eyes peeled.

New England police have warned the public not to approach Sensoy if he is sighted, but rather call Triple Zero immediately.

Sensoy, who hails from Prospect in Sydney, is described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, about 175 to 185cm tall, with a medium build, and brown eyes and grey hair.

He was last seen wearing prison greens.

Police had previously thought Sensoy was on the run in a stolen red Subaru WRX, taken from Glen Innes, the weekend he escaped.

Police tasked all resources to track the stolen car before they homed in on it in Moree, where it was involved in a chase.

It was involved in a chase with police but that was soon abandoned.

Using the dog unit and PolAir, officers tracked the stolen car to the banks of the Gwydir River where Jason Craigie and Michael Binge were captured, but Sensoy wasn't among them.

Police don't suspect Sensoy was connected to the stolen car, now.
