GLEN BOWLING CLUB NEWS August 8
The Men's A Grade singles championship for 2020 was completed on Saturday 1st August. On their way to the final, Ian Pringle defeated Matt Jarrett and Les Kiehne, while Luke McCarthy defeated Bob Thomas and Ross Gallagher.

The final was played in perfect weather. Ian Pringle had an early lead, but this was reined in by his younger opponent who took the lead in the 27th end, only to be pipped at the post by Pringle who scored 5 shots in the last two ends to finish 31 to 30.
The draw for the Minor Singles has been released . Bob Grange will play Bob Thomas, Peter Hutton v Adam McCarthy, Matt Jarrett v Russell Scott and Col Baker versus Brad Riley.
Entries for the Open Pairs are now open at the club and will close on 17th August, with round one set down for 22nd August.
Social Bowls:
Saturday 1st August: Paul Robertson and Robert Rees defeated Peter Hutton and Bob Grange 25 to 18.
Sunday 2nd: Shirley Hutton and Robert Rees defeated Chris Burrell and Neil Cameron 22 to 14, Russell Scott and Col Baker defeated Jacki Ford and Steve Anderson 31 to 7.
Glen Innes Veterans Golf
Thursday 6th August 2020
On Thursday 6th August 23 Veteran Golfers met on course in good weather to play the Monthly Match.
The Winner on the day on a count back was Annette Berrell 48. Also on 48 Joan Hutton.
The run down was as follows - Graham Collett 42, Richard Gaha 41, John Stewart 40, Rod Kiehne 39, John Hillard and Robert Bruce both on 38.
Best with the Putter as well as winner on the day Annette Berrell, well done Annette. Nett Winner for the day Joe Lawrence. The Draw went to John McClelland.
Next week 13th August is weekly play. Hope to see you all back then.
Ladies Golf News
Last Wednesday a good field of 20 ladies played a stableford event for Colleen Hollingworth's trophy. Elaine Wilson was the winner of the trophy with 40 stableford points. Elaine was closely followed by Joan Watson who had a fine 39 points. Other runners up weere: K. Correy 35, Shirley Bruce 35, Chris Burrell 34 and Colleen Hollingworth 32 on a countback. The Back 9 was taken out by Annette Berrell with 19 points, the draw went to Jan Hope and the raffle to Pru Newby.
Because of the inclement weather on Sunday there was no ladies golf, however the three ladies who played went into the medley with the men.
Tomorrow we will play the first round of our 4BBB Stroke Championships, ladies are asked to be at the Clubhouse by 9 a.m. for this event. Sunday is a mixed 2 person Ambrose. Nancy will get any ladies, who wish to play, a male partner for this event.
Social club golf
At 6.30am on Sunday I looked at the thermometer and it read 3.1 degrees so I went back to bed
.Nine hardy souls played the front nine. Winner was Michael Johansen with a net 21 followed by Shane Cooper with 23.5.
The putting went to Ben Burbidge with en excellent 12 putts. Welcome back Ben.
.Bradman's to Paul McCrae and the T/bird to Dan Grosse. Dan took this out last week and I said there must be a story. Both on par 5s Could be a series.
The lucky draw to Phill Kemp and second to John Stewart.
Next week, weather permitting we will play the back nine at 8.30am.
