The Australian beef taste-testing fundraiser for the University of New England (UNE) has partnered with Meat Livestock Australia (MLA) to give $1000 to The Youth Booth for simply recruiting volunteer tasters to come along and chomp on some meat samples.
The Youth Booth need to get 60 volunteers together to taste samples that are being provided at this fundraiser, which will take place at Town Hall on Tuesday, September 29.
"This fundraiser puts some icing on the cake after the recent refurbishment of The Youth Booth," The Youth Booth youth worker Liam Gabriel said.
"It also puts the community focus on the value of The Youth Booth for our local young people and how the community can support this great service."
The meat taste testing will comply with COVID-19 requirements and be broken into three one-hour time slots commencing at 11.45am with each group requiring 20 volunteers.
Volunteers must be over 18 years and in good health to participate.
Event organiser Mary Hollingworth said the UNE and MLA meat tasting research project is a simple way to gain funding for community projects.
"This is a wonderful initiative for The Youth Booth on all levels, raising much-needed funds and awareness and community assistance is greatly appreciated," she said.
The Youth Booth is beginning to plan how it will best use the money.
Council's youth workers will hold discussions with members of The Youth Booth to involve them in any decisions related to the funds.
The purchase of resources for activities will be one of the likely beneficiaries of the fundraiser.
