The Deepwater School of Arts Hall Committee will be opening its doors once again on Saturday, November 14 at 10am to show off the outstanding renovations.

The committee received $100,000 as part of the Glen Innes Severn Council's 2020 Government Drought Community Funding to complete the renovations project.

The extensive project of upgrades has included disability access, complete refurbishment and extension of the back dressing rooms, re-stumping, and painting.

The renovations were completed in a timely manner, ensuring the Hall will be in great shape to host future community events.

Deepwater Hall committee chair Mary Hollingworth said 2020 has been a stellar year for the committee following a 103-year history of serving the Deepwater district.

"Deepwater Hall was named committee of the year at the 2020 Australia Day Awards," she said.

This year the hall has received a PHN grant of $10,000, hosted a series of fundraising events including a country halls tour with Fanny Lumsden, Arts North West drought comedy show with Damien Callinan, six MLA / UNE meat tasting fundraisers - each raising $1000 for six community organisations, and will host the inaugural Country Witches Show on November 21 and the 2021 community Australia Day breakfast.

"The committee and community have pulled together and worked tirelessly for the much loved Hall," Ms Hollingworth said.

"The recent challenges of drought, bushfires and COVID, have seen everyone pull together like a dream team for the incredible Deepwater community."
