The Glen Innes Severn Council has recently developed and adopted a new economic development initiative, and are inviting members of the community to get involved.
At the Ordinary Council Meeting held Thursday, December 17, 2020, Council unanimously adopted a new economic development initiative, called the Draft PLACE Strategy 2020-2040 and the Draft PLACE Action Plan 2020-2025.
This economic development strategy and plan uses a "place" model which is the new paradigm in economic development, raising the bar on the methodology and structure underpinning how Glen Innes' future growth can be driven and managed.
Council are encouraging community members to get involved as it is essential for the success of the process on realising the future growth potential of the Glen Innes Severn Local Government (LGA) to form a partnership approach between Council and community.
To enable as comprehensive involvement by the community as possible, Council will be holding drop-in sessions in January 2021. These sessions are your opportunity to find out how hubs, squads and place theories are the key to the future growth and prosperity of the Glen Innes Severn Local Government Area. You can also pick up a copy of the Strategy and Action Plan and the Public Comments Form at these sessions. Council welcomes and encourages all residents to make submissions.
The drop-in sessions are as follows:
Glen Innes Town Hall on January 13, from 10.00am to 4.00pm; Glencoe Hall on January 14, from 9.00am to 12 noon; Deepwater Hall on January 15 from 10.00am to 12.00 noon and at Emmaville War Memorial Hall from 1.00pm to 4.00pm; Red Range Memorial Hall on January 19 from 2.00pm to 3.00pm and at Wytaliba office/shop on January 20, from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Council is now inviting written submissions on the Draft PLACE Strategy 2020-2040 and the Draft PLACE Action Plan 2020-2025.
The submission forms are accessible on the Home page of Council's website Under Public Exhibitions and Notices ( www.gisc.nsw.gov.au ) as well as at Council's Town Hall and Church Street offices, the Glen Innes Library and Learning Centre, the Visitor Information Centre and the village Post Offices at Emmaville, Deepwater and Glencoe.
