Short on numbers, most players turned out in both the second and third grade games for the Elks but they didn't let up.
The third grade match saw the Glen Innes side deliver a 38-7 drubbing while the second grade score blew even further out to 47-nil.
President Ben Emery said it has been a "great start" to the season and applauded the efforts of the team's speedsters.
"The outside backs are really starting to set the standard, I think Harry [Brown] might have eight tries for the season already and we are only two games in," he said.
"Brent Pedlow is having a great impact there, Pickles has got four tries already for the year."
But he also credited the forward pack for laying the platform.
"Our strength really is in our outside backs at the moment, our forwards are doing a great job up front.
"We are playing a pretty fast game, which historically hasn't been our style.
"We were able to speed it up, make the metres in the forwards and swing it wide to the boys in the backs who are really start to finish off a lot our plays.
"We are starting to look pretty explosive."
New coach Dennis Brown said "it was an improved effort but there's still a long way to go" and Emery agreed.
"We were a bit short on men so we got to give everyone a good run about," he said.
"By the end of it, the legs were pretty tired.
"There was a lot of cramping and that sort of stuff going on but we really had a great weekend, took a lot out of it, there was a lot of improvement, as the coach has said, but there's a long way for us to go to hold the standard we are hoping to set this year."
While historically the Elks have struggled early in the season with numbers, both at games and at training, and have consequently started slow on the results board.
Despite being short on Saturday, signs are beginning to look more positive.
"We were fortunate enough to have a pre-season with a few different games which has set us on the right track," Emery said.
"We are coming into the season full throttle and raring to go.
"Very positive attitude at hte club at the moment, great culture, we are all sticking together and everyone is taking a lot of pride in how we are approaching the season and how we are playing out game."
This Saturday, the Elks head to Armidale again to face the Blues in what is promising to be a pair of interesting clashes.
The Blues are also undefeated in both grades from the two opening rounds against St Albert's College and Tamworth.
