A good time is guaranteed when the Glen Innes View Club celebrates its birthday, and last Thursday at the Services Club was no different when the club turned 53.
Kerrie Sturtridge has helmed the club for the past 15 years and has seen its membership grow from eight to 55 in that time.

While very much a 'social' social club, internal fundraisers support three Learning for Life children of The Smith Family. Mrs Sturtridge said the club receives regular updates from the youngsters and it's gratifying to see them progress through their education.
A special guest speaker is invited to each monthly meeting. Most recently was council general manager Craig Bennett with others speaking on RSPCA, community nursing, Roseneath and even bees.
"It's a nice mix," Mrs Sturtridge said, and new members are always welcome.
This year's birthday party featured a fashion parade organised by club member Carol Parry of Carolyn's Closette and compered by Lynn Hunt. Shimmy In The Glen Belly dancers Helen Tucker, Helena Mayher, Soraya Raper, Julianne Grob, Susie Snodgrass and Lisa Faulkner -- along with Melody Van Nisteldrooey, Ev Scott and Debbie Jarrett -- modelled fashion selections to music provided by David Newport and Carolyn Dunn of Radio 2GM.
The entertainment concluded with a belly dance, to the acclaim of the audience which swelled to 95 with invited guests.
