Firefighters called on Monday morning for Glen Innes home 'engulfed in fire'

A HOME has been destroyed in Glen Innes following a large fire which engulfed the property on Monday morning.

Fire and Rescue 302 Station Glen Innes arrived at the house on Bradleys Lane around 6:15am, and jumped into action against what was quite a significant blaze.

There were initial concerns about whether anybody was trapped in the house, but it was eventually discovered no one was at the premises at the time.

"[The crews] responded with their pumper and tanker, when they got there they found the house was totally engulfed in fire so they commenced firefighting operations," said duty commander Wayne Zikan.

"There was concern about whether anyone was inside or not but it was determined that the place was vacant at the time, and I believe police located the property owner."

Firefighters remained on the scene to clean up until just after 9am.

Investigations are continuing into the cause of the blaze.
