Wickliffe Lake Bolac Football Netball Club has been a club of extremes in recent years. Since 2005, the club's senior team has either made the Mininera and District Football League grand final or has not qualified for finals at all. The team's most recent premiership was in 2018, where the Seniors went the season unbeaten and won the grand final against Tatyoon by 90 points. But in 2019, the club just missed out on a top-five spot, despite a percentage of 209.83. READ MORE: Wickliffe Lake Bolac's previous premiership in 2013 followed a similar pattern, finishing 10th in 2012 and sixth in 2014. However, club president Angus Gilmore said results would not be the first measure of success in 2021. "Coming out of COVID and not being able to do anything, I think for a small country club we've got to be looking for footballers and netballers, and supporters just to enjoy themselves and get that feeling back," he said. "This year as a whole, we're just looking to get things back on track and creating a sense of normality. That's the first aim. MORE NEWS: "We all want to be involved in the footy club, and it's good fun. What happens on the scoreboard will happen; whether it's in our favour or against, so be it. Gilmore said pre-season alone had highlighted the benefits of community sport returning. "It's been good to be back together and training again, and it's been good for the community too," he said. OTHER NEWS: "A few faces just pop into training and have a look. Also, there's been a couple of faces you don't normally see at football working bees. "People, in general, are glad to be out and about doing something, and the footballers and netballers are the same, they're just enjoying having a kick with the boys and girls."
