Thirty-eight young cattle breeders aged 8-17 years – including local representative Tamara and Brittany Camp, Lilly Newberry and Dean and Jake Orchard – enjoyed three days of intensive workshops covering a wide range of aspects of the industry.
Topics included nutrition, breed standards and selection, show preparation, parading, and even public speaking and the cattle export market.
The final day on Sunday involved junior judging, where participants presented their assessment, in a very professional manner, of animals donated by seven local studs.
The junior cattlemen and cattlewomen camped at the showground for the three days and were in the running for a number of awards, including for parading, prime and stud beef judging, and even on the cleanest animal stall, with judges stating that the state of the camper’s own bed was not a determining factor so everyone was in the running.
This is the ninth year that Glen Innes has hosted the event.
