The event has attracted attention from men in regional areas across the state after growing rapidly in its early years and event coordinator Ian Speed, in partnership with Scott Robertson, said the event is coming of age in its seventh year.
“We’ve been going for seven or eight years now,” he said.
“It was a very big year last year.”
The forums frank discussions on sex, money and power drew large crowds to the 2014 conference held in the Showground Pavilion. Mr Speed said this year’s Christian conference is themed ‘Worship 24/7’.
He said, aside from promoting Christian teachings, the Men@Glen conference recognised the challenges of living in isolated regional and rural areas and providing an outlet for men to meet and talk.
“We were conscious that a lot of men work in very isolated situations,” Mr Speed said.
This year the conference has attracted a guest Christian ministry speaker from Sydney to address the anticipated 300 men set to attend.
“We are hoping to get a good message from him,” Mr Speed said.
“He is a good speaker.”
The inaugural gathering attracted just shy of 200 men from around the region and blew out last year in the vicinity of 500 attendees.
Organisers are confident the community event will continue to grow this year and into the furure.
