Telstra’s North West regional manager Michael Marom visited Deepwater on Wednesday, March 25, and responded to concerns from residents that the mobile signal had degraded significantly over previous years.
Deepwater residents currently have been struggling for a secure signal, even in the township, while residents in Torrington have been without a signal for some time and sometimes left without adequate landline service.
Ms Stack said Marom has been in touch since the meeting and confirmed that he will be investigating options to improve the signal for the local area.
“I think he was probably surprised at how much of an issue there was,” she said.
There are three service towers in the local area, which Mr Marom said he will be investigating alongside network engineers.
He said, during the meeting, he would also investigate the possibility of implementing a 4G network for the area to address possible congestion issues between phone and data services.
