And although the travellers using it won’t soon be leaving planet earth, they will be setting off on a more leisurely paced romp around inland NSW using an application that will provide them in an instant with a wealth of information on the region, making their journey easier to plan and getting lost not an option.
The application, which will become available through ITunes next month, is the pride and joy of Inland Tourism NSW who are the first to develop the ultimate traveller’s tool and they expect other regions and states will follow their lead in the near future.
The application at present covers inland NSW destinations and taps into all the information a traveller could glean from the local visitors information centre without having to actually visit the site.
Information that enhances any travellers visit to a town requires only a few taps on a touch screen and the attractions of the area are presented in an easy to follow format.
Restaurants, what to see, accommodation, road conditions and maps are the options available on the app so if the traveller is the type that likes to be prepared before heading off, all sorts of plans can be made without having to go to a dozen web pages to check out the what, where and how of their destinations.
If they are more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants traveller, the application just might save the odd argument in the car as the weary sightseers head into town with the sun going down and no accommodation booked.
A few taps on appngo will find a list of resting places, provide telephone numbers and another tap of the screen will call the motel.
With the use of maps on the app the traveller can now easily find his newly booked accommodation and select a restaurant which is walking distance from the motel.
Argument averted, lovely accommodation found, dinner sorted and travelling companion happy!
That is if you have a smartphone or tablet and if the intended traveller has not yet moved into that world of technology it might be worth considering when next upgrading phones or thinking of a Christmas present for the parents who have everything.
