Glen Innes minor league began the day with under 6 and under 8 teams taking the field against Inverell before senior league got their day going with the league tag fixture against the Moree Boars.
Magpies Old Boys president Gavin Peterson had hoped the day would run smoothly and numbers would turn up.
He was thrilled with players of all ages coming along to support the day.
“We were really happy with the whole day. It probably exceeded what we thought it was going to be,” he said.

“A lot of feedback from the people who hadn't been to a game for a long time was they were interested in coming back again and taking an interest in what is happening with rugby league as a whole, not just first grade, but everybody.
“It was a good opportunity for that, we achieved what we wanted.”
There are now plans to hold an Old Boys event annually.
“We are going to have the Old Boys day annually and we are talking about for our last home game having a reunion of the 2008 premiership side which won the grand final 10 years ago,” Peterson said.
“Other than that, we are looking at what we did on Saturday as an annual event every year.
“It is just going strength-to-strength, there is a lot of interest there and it is good.”
