A casually dressed Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived by boat on the island on Saturday, stopping to speak with competitors taking part in the Invictus Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge.
The couple, who attended a formal service at the NSW Anzac Memorial earlier on Saturday, were dressed for comfort to watch on competitors.
Meghan wore an Invictus Games T-shirt under a white blazer from Altazarra with a pair of Mother jeans.
The couple will award the medals to the winners of the event with Australia and France going head to head for gold in the final.
Australian Craig McGrath, who competed in the driving challenge, was overwhelmed with emotion describing his journey with the support of his family and friends.
For the first event of the 2018 Invictus Games, McGrath competed with teammate Scott Reynolds.
"I was just so happy they could come in and see, just to come and watch," Craig told AAP.
"I can't expect people to get an airfare to go to another country so it was really important to get on the Australian team."
Over the day competitors from 12 countries have participated in three challenges featuring one water obstacle course and two precision driving challenges.
The two Aussies made their way around the course with careful consideration and poise, saying there were plenty of challenges especially in the canoe slalom water obstacle.
The Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge awards points for accuracy, navigation and teamwork over time.
The Duke and Duchess will watch competitors going for the gold medal on Saturday afternoon.
