Glen Innes' RSPCA branch and GLENRAC have teamed up to deliver pallets of damaged pet food pallets donated by Brisbane Coles branches to the district.
"Country people are usually the very last ones to ask for help," said RSPCA volunteer Brigitte Burridge.
"What we were really hoping to do is extend a hand to the farming community and assist them in getting through one of the most severe weather events we've had in well over a hundred years."
She said the assistant manager of Glen Innes' Coles branch Chris Marshall had helped them source donations from Coles to add to aid from suppliers in Inverell and Sydney.
It's not the first time the RSPCA Glen Innes Volunteer Branch has been involved in drought relief - last year they donated a large quantity of dog food, and $1000 worth of salt and urea blocks to drought affected farmers - and Brigitte says there are plans in the works for another drought project to take place in the near future.
"What we are providing is only a small offering, and in the grand scheme of things it may not seem like much.
"But we're doing the best we can to reach out to farmers and let them know that we care about them and their animals, and that we know they are going through an incredibly difficult time.
"We encourage anyone who might need it to access this help."
The extensive range of pet food products, which include working dog, cat and bird feed, are available for collection at the GLENRAC office, 68 Church St, Glen Innes.
