"I've been here for six months now. I gave it my all - that's all I did.
"I was very, very nervous. I think that's why I was so shocked because I was so nervous, but I'm glad."
Ms Risby edged out a strong challenger in runner-up Lexie Brown on Friday at the show to become Glen Innes' newest representative to the rest of NSW.
But there was no friction after the announcement with both winner and runner-up posing with photos with 2019 showgirl Katie Shearer.
Ironically all three have a connection with the Upper Hunter, with Katie previously competing in Singleton's Showgirl competition.
She said the best thing about being a representative was meeting new people on the road as a representative of your town.
"You get to meet a lot of very interesting young women that have similar but different stories and places that they're going."
Lexie Brown, born and raised in Glen Innes, but now based in Scone, said she'd long hoped to get an opportunity to compete in a show.
The 23-year-old has another opportunity to enter the competition before she ages out, but said she probably won't.
"I'm a big sook when it comes to public speaking. It was nerve-wracking once, I won't try to do it again!
"It was a good experience, loved it."
Katie Shearer was wearing a moon boot when she took home the comp last year.
She said she would be willing to impart some of her experience competing in Dorrigo's zone championship this year before next year's zone competition in Wee Waa.
Ultimately successful showgirls go on to compete at the Royal Easter Show.
Show President Andrew Hancock said all the competitors gave their all and show the continued relevance of Showgirl competitions into the future.
