- As we enter the festive season the Glen Innes Red Cross branch is seeking entrants for its annual Christmas tree and decorations competition.
Jo Cameron, secretary from the Glen Innes Australian Red Cross said the annual Christmas tree and decorations competition initiative started 20 years ago as a way of getting the community into the festive spirit.

"It has now become a well-loved part of Christmas celebrations, we haven't missed a year," Ms Cameron said.
The event this year will be run a little differently in order to comply with COVID-19 regulations in place to ensure a safe environment.

The wonderful display of Christmas trees decorated by members of the public will be available for viewing in Town Hall on Thursday, November 26, and will remain open until Saturday, December 5 at 2pm when all prizes will be awarded.
Three independent judges will judge the entries in all categories on their inattentiveness and Christmas theme.
The prize categories include: family/individual; business; club, agency, community group; senior school; primary school; infant school; K-6/primary class interest group; preschool.
There will also be a people's choice prize, with the public able to vote for $1.
Entries can be constructed from a range of materials, from egg cartons, tin foil to barbed wire and sticks and bailing twine.
"We are looking forward to receiving many more wonderful entries," she said.
