Teaming up with fellow junior bowlers Breanna Graham, Jack Whitton and Justin Bushell from Armidale, the team secured confident wins in their first two matches and ground to a tough stalemate in their final match culminating an excellent performance against the state’s top young bowlers.
The state placing follows a swag-load of achievements for the young local bowler, currently holding the title for junior district and zone single champion, as well as zone fours champion earlier this year.
After attending the state carnival in Warilla on Monday, July 7, and Tuesday, July 8, Ellem has his sights set on Wagga this weekend, contesting the Combined High Schools carnival on Sunday, August 3, representing North West, before travelling to Figtree on Friday, August 22, representing Zone 3 at the intra-zone junior 7-a-side team.
Competing for the second year at Figtree, Ellem will enter the team as a singles player hoping to gain state selection following last year’s bronze medal performance.
