Parents, teachers, community members and other adults were engaged and invited to assist on the day which included face painting, dancing, painting, cooking, language and story classes, basket weaving, didgeridoo playing and more on Wednesday, September 10.

Rotating through a series of at least 10 different workshops or activities the combined groups of students learnt a great deal from people with the knowledge and skills available.

Robert Naden was teaching students how to play the didgeridoo, national parks and wildlife personnel gave talks on artefacts and ochre paint with kids having the chance to paint their faces. The damper cooking classes were enthusiastically attended and art classes gave students a chance to show their artistic talents.

Alan Weatherall led his groups a merry dance as he instructed students on dance movements of kangaroo and emu.

Students also had the opportunity to learn a little of the Ngoorabul language.

The mixed groups from kindergarten through to year six enabled older students to help younger ones through the series of activities.

Nikki Lee, teacher and organiser, said the event had provided a really fun day as well as being a great learning opportunity.
