Our youngest competitor Mary Arandale achieved a personal best, knocking 11.26 sec off her 50 metre breaststroke and placing sixth with a time of 1:04 in her only event in the championships competing against 8 year olds.
The Glen Innes Redfins swimming club would like to congratulate all swimmers involved and thank the parents and mentors that have made these great results possible.
With a short swimming season and only four early morning swimming squad lessons a week our swimmers have achieved above and beyond those in bigger centres with far better facilities.
The Speedo Sprints held in Tamworth over the weekend was an opportunity for our local swimmers between the ages of seven and 12 to compete in 50 metre sprints.
Mary Arandale and Lily Cooke both represented the Glen Innes Redfins Swimming Club. Mary Arandale had an explosive day in the pool competing in 3 events, placing first in Breaststroke, second in Backstroke and third in Freestyle.
The Glen Innes Redfins swimming club would like to congratulate Mary on her selection into the 2017 Swimming New England and North West Inc. Speedo Sprint Finals Squad.
Mary will travel to compete at Sydney Olympic Park on March 12 to compete against the fastest swimmers in the State. This is a wonderful achievement as well as a fantastic opportunity for Mary with the possibility of placing at State level in her favourite stroke, Breaststroke.
