Glen Innes Golf Club’s pinnacle event for the year was hailed a successful with the podium filled with local winners.

The annual Cec Judge Jug saw the region’s best golfers tee off on the first weekend in February.
Bob Gallagher and Russell Meehan won the event ahead of competitors from Inverell, Tenterfield, Guyra and Deepwater.
Coming in at a close second was the pairing of Ray Newsome and Dale McCrohan.
Taking out third spot was another Glen Innes duo in Graham Campbell and Ray Stone.
The club’s general manager Pat Lonergan said it is a well-respected event for golfers around the region and a tough one to win.
"It is our major open golf day of the year,” he said.
"It attracts visitors from all over the New England. We had close to 100 people play and it was a great day.
"It is a pretty prestigious event to win.”

While the district is home to a high standard of golfing Lonergan was thrilled the winners were local.
He said the numbers were pleasing with 84 entries in total and have stayed consistent from previous years.
"Local knowledge prevailed,” he said.
"It was a really good day.
"The course was magnificent and an we had an excellent roll up.
"It was a very successful day.”
Ashford’s Adam Beveridge was the nearest to pin winner on the 4th and the 11th.
Gallagher won the pro pin on the 7th.
Tenterfield’s Ken Hines was the nearest to pin winner on the 12th.
Reggie Wall of Guyra was nearest the pin winner on the 17th.
It was the first time in a number of years Glen Innes has taken out the event with last year’s winning duo coming from Emmaville and 2015’s pair were from Guyra.
The course provided the perfect setting for the travelling competitors.
“They love the course because it is in good condition with all the rain we had,” golf coordinator Rod Kiehne said.
“It is the best it has been in years.”
Next Tuesday will be the Vets Open event with golfers coming from Tenterfield, Uralla, Guyra and surrounding areas to participate.
