A Glen Innes ultimate frisbee competition has started up on Sundays.
This is an extremely social competition with a beginner’s interpretation of the rules and hence is suitable for anyone who is over 16.
Mick Malone started the competition two weeks ago after playing it socially for a number of years.
“I am part of a group of friends aged between 16 and 50 who have been playing for the last four years,” he said.
“We got into it because of the fun and energetic nature of the game and because it is played without need for referees or footwear. Who doesn't love running around in the park barefoot?”
It has grown in popularity with people of all ages signing up to take part.
“It is just this term we have decided to try and get some new people playing and we would like to get a regular social competition going,” Malone said.
“For the last two weeks we have had about 15 people turning up and have had a couple of excellent games.
“So far ages range between 16 and 50 and ability levels from pure beginners to some old hands.
“We are looking for more players so anyone interested in having a run around the park and improving their fitness and agility please come along to Wilson Park this Sunday at 4pm.”
