The company is not giving details ahead of a big publicity drive on Friday but it’s laid on a drone-based camera to provide spectacular pictures to the media.
There has been criticism of Telstra for the quality of its broadband in the area. The federal government launched a program called “Mobile Black Spot” to provide better phone data coverage in poorly served places.
The government said it had “committed $220 million to the Mobile Black Spot Program to invest in telecommunications infrastructure to improve mobile coverage along major regional transport routes, in small communities and in a number of identified priority locations”.
Federal MP Barnaby Joyce has been accused of accepting second best for rural areas.
Neither Telstra nor his office would comment.
