The league taggers set the ball rolling with the first victory of the day in a gallant defensive effort against the hosts.
With only two substitutes for the clash, the Magpies fired early with Courtney Watts crossing in the opening 10 minutes and Amelia Tunamena converting.
A goal five minutes from full-time pushed the visitors’ lead out to 8-nil.
Inverell scored a consolation try two minutes from full-time to bring the final scoreline to 8-4.
Coach David Willis said it was his side’s defence which got them over the line.
“We never had it in the bag, but in the start of the second-half we defended for 14 minutes on our line,” he said.
“We didn't get over the 40 metre mark, we just defended.
“We had a few out and we had a couple injured.”
Willis said it was an all-round team effort.
“All our girls got a fair run but it was hard to pick out anyone that excelled,” he said.
“I thought they all played pretty well.”
Emilie Hodge picked up three points from the referee, two to Kate Fakes and one to Alisa Tunamena with Watts earning players’ player.
