Glen Innes Auskick began last Friday with promising signs for another popular year.
“It was a fantastic first week back on Friday,” coordinator Robyn Harvey said.
“We have 30 kids registered which was more than last year.”
To help with the growing interest of the program in Glen Innes, a host young coaches have put their hand up to help out.
“We have got a few assistant coaches at the moment, Montana Harvey who does NIAS AFL,” Harvey said.
“She is having a go and is out there, spreading the word and getting girls interested.
“We have a bit of youth girls footy going ahead in leaps and bounds.
“Ashton McConnell has also offered to help as an assistant coach.”
With the Auskick program proving popular, Harvey is hoping there is room for a team from Glen Innes to join the AFL North West competition.
“Between last season and this season, we started a committee - the Glen Innes junior AFL club inc.”
“We are looking to turn it into a junior AFL club next year.”
This Friday Auskick will resume on the Glen Innes Public School oval at 3.30pm and anyone can come along and try it out.
