The 42 attendees were all members of the New Englanders – the local chapter of the Campervan & Motorhome Club of Australia Ltd (CMCA).
The group meets at a different town in the region each month – choosing, if possible, RV Friendly Towns or Destinations, like Glen Innes.
“We are delighted that Glen Innes now has RV Friendly Town status,” member Joy Woods said.

The 24 vehicles came from as close as Glen Innes, and as far as Armidale, Deepwater, Tenterfield, Delungra, and Kootingal.
“The Recreation Reserve was a perfect location for the gathering,” Joy said.
The site had a large flat area for the vehicles, while the beautiful shady trees were greatly appreciated in the heat.
Members played cards and disc bowls (instead of bowls, a round disc is used); went for walks amongst the huge granite boulders; and just relaxed.
A courtesy bus transported members to the newly renovated Red Lion Tavern, Glencoe, for dinner on Friday evening.
Although the Tavern (an RV Friendly Destination) wasn’t officially opened until Wednesday, November 21, the new owners honoured a longstanding reservation.
The members enjoyed drinks on the deck and at the bar, and a tasty dinner.
On Saturday night, everyone brought something to the table for a combined meal under the stars.
“These communal meals are always a highlight of the weekends, as there are some great cooks amongst the members,” Joy said.
On previous get-togethers, the New Englanders have visited Cranky Rock Reserve near Warialda; Uralla Showground for the Thunderbolts Festival; Coolatai for the Tractor Pull; Black Mountain Railway Station; Armidale Showground for the Autumn Festival; Guyra for the Lamb and Potato Festival; and Yetman Caravan Park.
On these outings, they support local shops, hotels and businesses, which are usually within walking distance of the venues.
