Fatigue played a factor for the Magpies with two reserves on the bench as they were pipped at the post.
The Glen Innes girls led 12-8 at half-time before the Boars came home strong to win 24-18.
Despite the defeat, Magpies coach Andrew Hodgson wasn't disappointed in the effort by his team.
"It was a loss but there were a lot of positives to come out of it," he said,
"Something we can work on now.
"I thought their attitude was a lot better.
"We were in it but just fatigue, we only had two reserves so it got us in the end.
"I was pretty happy with it, the girls were happy so we move on."
Hodgson lamented two weeks off the park didn't help but paid credit to the Boars girls.
"I just think fitness, a couple of little things we can work on at training and I was quite happy with their effort actually.
"And Moree, to their credit, are a good young side.
"I thought they were pretty good."
Hodgson highlighted a few stand outs.
"Sarah Byrne was really good on the weekend, and young Sarah Woolfe again," he said.
"Another one of our young ones, Amelia Levy-Blair. She had a good game."
This Sunday the Magpies head to Moree to face the Boomerangs.
"We will prepare well this week so hopefully everyone turns up to training and we can work on a few things," Hodgson said.
"That is a big thing, we have got to get numbers to training.
"We are on the improve and I am quite happy with it."
