In the dying stages of the match against the 2018 grand finalists, the Magpies conceded a try to miss out on the win 22-18.
Though they didn't return home with the two points, coach Gavin Peterson was far from disappointed.
"We had 13 guys turn up and every single every one of them put their hand up, I was very proud of their effort actually," he said.
"There was just one or two missed tackles and stuff like that under fatigue really.
"Their effort was outstanding.
"We said that on the day, we couldn't give a 3, 2, 1 because no one stood out.
"Everyone equally put their hand up and tried their guts out."
The Glen Innes side have had mixed results this year and the games which fall into the negative have often been on the back of poor ball handling.
Peterson said it was much improved against the Tigers.
"Their ball control was a lot better which is something we have been talking about and the completions have been better," he said.
"We didn't get the result but we were happy."
The Magpies are due to line up against Armidale this Saturday but the Rams have been struggling to fill sides.
Peterson believes there will be a game "at this stage" and will be preparing his side for the clash.
"Hopefully we can [play] because we have a couple of weeks off after that," he said.
Peterson is continuing to focus on handling errors with the Magpies.
"That is just key at the moment with any of the sides; anyone that maintains a bit of possession and does build a bit of pressure generally scores," he said.
"We have been working on our skills drills, just catch and passing.
"It is a bit repetitive but it is paying off at the moment."
