Ryan McIntyre, 14, will join dad Daniel McIntyre, Jack Hillier and Byron Campbell in the NSW team.
With Ryan competing in novice shearing, Jack in novice wool handling, Byron in intermediate shearing and Daniel in the open section, Glen Innes will have one of the largest regional contingents of any town its size, according to mum Jammie McIntyte.
It's an unbelievable record for a town of just 6000, which will have representatives in only a handful of grades.
Ryan was called up when another competitor pulled out. He said he was over the moon to be next in line.
"Dubbo Show was only my fourth competition and I was proud to have just make the final," he said.
"And even more proud to have place third, missing out on the state team by .6 of a point which is not much at all.
"Gave me something to work on for the next season!"
Ryan is born of good stock, with dad Daniel representing Australia as the national team captain in the world championship in France in July. He came sixteenth in the world.
"To be told I am now in the state team is pretty awesome, it means I get to shear more sheep," Ryan laughed.
"To represent NSW with my Dad and some good mates from Glen Innes is going to be fun."
Mum Jammie McIntyre said she wouldn't miss her son representing NSW for quids.
Has having the national captain as a dad helped?
"It would, obviously learning from the best," she said.
"But I also think it has a lot to do with his personal ability to take instruction and listen.
"He's had a few coaching days from other people. His father has told him that there's always something to learn from somebody."
