The winning 36-game QuickPick entry was purchased from Schafer’s Glen Innes Newsagency, but was not registered to a Players Club Card so NSW Lotteries had no way to contact the winner.
However, today NSW Lotteries officially confirmed the prize with the winner, ending speculation as to their whereabouts.
But exactly who landed the win will remain a mystery, as while the winner expressed their joy at the $2.625 million windfall, they have chosen to remain completely anonymous.
The entry was one of eight division one winning entries nationally, and one of three in New South Wales, in Saturday’s $21 Million Superdaw, draw 3737 on 13 May 2017. Each won a division one prize of $2,625,000.
The division one winning entry was purchased from Schafer’s Glen Innes Newsagency.
Owner Guy Schafer said the outlet was celebrating selling its first division one winning ticket since he took over the business nine years ago.
“Word has quickly spread around town that we sold a division one winning ticket! Everyone’s talking about it!” he said excitedly.
“We’re so excited it’s one of our customers and wish them all the very best with their prize. Hopefully it’s the first of many more wins for our customers.”

One lucky punter is $2.6 million richer after purchasing a winning ticket at Schafers Newsagency this week.
But the mystery jackpot prize-winner is yet to come forward.
Schafers Newsagency owner Guy Schafer said the Division 1 win in the Mother’s Day Saturday Superdraw was the “biggest” he’d seen in all his years at Glen Innes.
“It’s the biggest one I’ve sold – the biggest for over 15 years,” he told The Examiner on Monday.
“The next biggest one we’ve sold here is $100,000 and that was about nine years ago.
“We sell around $20,000 once every three to four months or so but getting the first division is hard.”
Mr Schafer said the mystery winner didn’t register their ticket.
“It could be anyone,” he said.
“When they come in they just have to fill in the claim form, send it off and about 10 weeks later, because it was unregistered, they’ll have the money.”
