The outing was the culmination of a journey which saw them excel at the school cross country before Kayden Elliot placed fourth and Riley Grob placed sixth in their respective age groups at the diocese trials at Quirindi on May 15.
In the 10 years boys group at Eastern Creek Kayden ran 18th in the NSW Polding section, finishing 24th overall out of all the NSW Catholic school students complete.
Riley competed in the 8/9 year old boy's competition and came 24th in the Polding section and 25th overall.
Everyone at St Joseph’s is very proud of the boys, and thanks their parents for making the effort to support their children through training and making the long journey to Sydney for them to compete.
While some non-traditional fitness regimes like ‘pigging’ keeps the boys fit, they’ve also been known to do laps of King George Oval, and say they’re feeling fitter for all the effort. They’re both keen to keep up the training, aiming for selection again next year.
