The council wants to talk to representatives from sporting bodies to better assess what the town needs.
The call comes because the deadline is barely a week away for applications to the NSW government which has made available $1,872,413 to improve the town’s facilities, not just for sports but wider community projects. The money is there under the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
The council says that only it can put the application in: “Non-council applicants are able to submit fully developed proposals to councils for consideration.”
It says that representatives of local organisations should read the guidelines because the exact criteria need to be met.
“This will require a high degree of preparation by representatives of organisations”, a spokeswoman said. “ Applications must be in a set format and must be submitted to the council electronically.”
She said the deadline for applications to the council was April 6. “Council staff will be available to discuss proposals with representatives of local organisations at the Church Street offices on Friday, March 23 between 10 am and 2 pm.
“For an appointment please contact Graham Price, Director of Development, Planning and Regulatory Services on 6730 2365 or 0418 440 978.”
